Sherlock Holmes
Sherlock Holmes is a fictional character written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The famous detective died in Switzerland at the Reichenbarch Falls over 130 years ago. To pay tribute to this figure of detective literature, we had the task of creating a series of postage stamps within eight hours.
For the stamp base, I chose to depict Sherlock Holmes with a simple and controlled line, which offers very good readability on a small scale. The illustration keeps a humanistic trace and reinforces the individuality and authenticity of the stamp.
The Reichenbarch falls are depicted symbolically and abstractly. The motifs each echo the materials associated with this place (rock, gravel, grass, forest, river and waterfall). The colours accompany the representation of the different biotopes. The series unfolds thanks to the variations of these two aspects.
